By this time, Cortez gained name and fame among the civilians and the emperor of Aztec considered him to be the human sent by God and he surrendered all gold treasures to Cortez. The emperor of Aztec was made a slave and after which got him killed. He renamed Aztec capital to be known as Mexico. Thus he built a new settlement.
