Circle the predicate
leonid [27]

A predicate is the part of a sentence that contains a verb wich tells something about the subject.

Now, in simple present or present progressive the formula is: subject + verb+ complement; the verb is the predicate. Taking the first three example, the subject is circled and the verb verbs comes after.

Answers are underlined:

The West Indian Manatee is large a sea mammal.

Manatte rest just below the water's surface.

Sea grass is one of their favorite things to eat.

In the last one it can't be eat the predicate because the predicate refers always to the subject, and 'sea grass doesn't eat'. "To eat is a complement"

Which of the following are allusions?
lesya [120]
The answer is C) Money can't buy happiness and A) He was a real Romeo. Allusions help us visualize the character by reffering to a figure of speach or a character, and comparing that to us. They take money and Romeo, and compare that with another person. They compare money to happiness and Romeo to another man. Hope that helps

Read the excerpt from The Stranger below and answer the question.
kvasek [131]

Answer:

This excerpt from The Stranger is an example of imagery. The correct answer is the third one.

Explanation:

Imagery is a literary device used for describing an object or a scene, or a feeling in order to create a defined image of it in the reader's mind. It means to use figurative language to represent objects, actions and ideas in a way that it appeals to our physical senses. In this excerpt, the writer describes the man with such detail that it is very easy for the reader to build a vivid image of the man in the reader's mind.
