Trees serve as a natural force to prevent erosion and hold soil together during rainfall and other periods of weather that might impact the integrity of the soil. However, trees were cut down to build a new shopping center there could be an increased flow of water to a river and also lead to great soil erosion nearby thus increasing the amount of sediment being deposited into the river. Also this new shopping mall could increase the pollutants in a river as well.

How does the altitude of the Sun at noon on the same day in the Northern Hemisphere’s summer compare for two observers at lati-
Zepler [3.9K]

Answer:

It is 42° higher for the observer at 12° north because of the differ- ence in latitude.

Explanation:

The sun's altitude can be given by the following formula:

S = 90 - L + D

In which S is the sun's altitude, L is the latitude of the place and D is the declination of the sun.

Since the comparasion occurs at the same day, the value of D will be the same for both cases, so it can be disconsidered in our calculation.

First observer

L = 12

S = 90 - L + D = 90 - L = 90 - 12 = 78

Second observer:

L = 54

S = 90 - L + D = 90 - L = 90 - 54 = 36

The correct answer is:

It is 42° higher for the observer at 12° north because of the differ- ence in latitude.

Answer:

Harbors can provide safe anchorage and permit the transfer of cargo and passengers between ships and the shore. A harbor is deep enough to keep ships from touching bottom and should give ships and boats enough room to turn and pass each other.
