Think back to some of the stories you've read in the last year or two. Of those, maybe you had one that you started to read, but

you just couldn’t get into it. Why? What made you keep putting it down? On the other hand, think about a story you really enjoyed. What literary elements did the writer use to make it impossible to put down? For example, was the protagonist easy to relate to? Did the author describe the setting with such vivid detail that you felt you were right there? Authors will produce works that place more emphasis on one element than another. As a result, sometimes there are gaps in literary elements that typically appeal to you as the reader. Discuss some of the recent stories you’ve read that have missed the mark. What advice would you give to that author to fill in the gaps you felt were missing? Also give your opinion on some stories that you’ve really enjoyed. Explain the elements that make it a good story. For example, how did the author use character, symbolism, or point of view to create such a page-turner?

A book that I love and have read more than 5 times is Number The Stars.A reason I absolutely love the book is because of the amazing description for the characters. I also feel deeply connected to the main character, Annemarrie, because I often have to risk it all to do what I know is right. One book I just was unable to finish is Why We Broke Up. I am simply unable to understand "romance" novels because I do not sit well with cliches. Overall, a good book is able to inflict emotions in readers and help picture a world much different than our own.

artcher [175]

Hello. This question is incomplete. The full question is:

For each of the following statements write what you think they might foreshadow:

"The Cruiser was crammed, packed to the very roof with coolers, fishing rods, and all manner of gear—boxes of food, jugs of water, gasoline. Even an extra propeller… We needed to be self-sufficient on Sweet Friday Island." (p. 11)

Answer:

The passage shown above foreshadows that the passage through ilah Sweet Friday will not be peaceful and peaceful.

Explanation:

Foreshadowing is a literary technique that allows an author to foreshadow, that is, further information that will happen later in the narrative. This information is given in a subjunctive manner, but is very punctual about the course of the narrative.

As we saw in the text above, the narrator shows that it is necessary to be very prepared to go through Sweet Friday Island. This foreshadows that this passage will not be easy and comfortable, but that it will need many resources.

Which statement best explains how Lowell uses the aquarium and the statue of Colonel Shaw as symbols?
docker41 [41]

Answer:

The answer is Both the aquarium and the monument are architectural structures that have been destroyed or almost destroyed, and are symbols for a decent past.

Explanation:

"For the union dead" is a book written by Robert Lowell and was published by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux in 1964 and it was Lowell 6th book.  Colonel Shaw was an American officer who fought during the American civil war for the Union Army. He was an abolitionist and commended the first all-black regiment.

Lowell wrote the poem For the Union dead with his early days reminisces of an Old Boston Aquarium built near Colonel Shaw figurine to enhance its beauty.  In his book, he talked about how men fought for equality and American dreams during the ancient days but their sacrifices have faded away since capitalism had taken over American society.
