The Qin and the Han dynasties both contributed to the unification of China. The Qin dynasty lasted from 221 to 206 BCE, while the Han dynasty ruled from 202 BCE to 220 CE. Both dynasties contributed to establishing a powerful and centralized empire (one that survives to the present). Moreover, they significantly developed the bureaucracy of the empire, including a comprehensive law code.
