james attached a diagonal brace across a rectangular frame that measures 6ft by 8ft what is the length of the diagonal brace

To solve this you would use the pythagorean theorem since the brace is making the frame look like two right triangles. The theorem states that for a triangle with a right angle, A^2+B^2=C^2. A and B are the sides of the frame and C is the brace which is like the hypotenuse of the triangle. It doesn't matter which side is A or B so you can put 6 or 8 in place of either in the equation. 6^2+8^2=C^2. If you simplify this it equals 36+64=C^2, which then simplifies to 100=C^2. Then you take the square root of both sides (what number multiplied by itself = the number you are trying to get, in this case, 100). So then you get C=10 because 10x10=100. So the length of the diagonal brace is 10ft.

What is the area of △JKL in square units? KJL is a triangle. The angle J is 94 degree and the angle L is 26 degree. Side JK is 2
Tamiku [17]

Answer:

426.07 square units

Step-by-step explanation:

Recall that for a triangle whose angles are A,B,C with corresponding sides a, b, c, the area G of the triangle may be computed as

G = 1/2 ab Sin C

or

G = 1/2 bc Sin A

or

G = 1/2 ac Sin B

Going by this, recall that the sum of angles in a triangle is 180 hence

94 + 26 + K = 180

120 + K = 180

Subtract 120 from both sides

K = 180 - 120

K = 60 degrees

Given that JK = 24 and JL = 41

G = 1/2 * 24 * 41 Sin 60

= 426.07 square units

NO LINKS OR ASSESSMENT!!

Write a rule to describe each transformation #9 & #11
ValentinkaMS [17]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Remark

I really don't know what to write to these questions. I can never tell what the problem is. Perhaps it is right at the very beginning. You have to recognize what is taking place. In problem 9, the easiest point to follow is H going to H'. Do you see what is happening? H is sitting on the x axis and then something happens to it and behold, it is now sitting on the y axis. So it has rotated 90 degrees but which way?

Take your finger or a pencil and put it on H. Then make a circular motion to get to H'. You are going clockwise. (keep going in that direction till you wind up where you started. You are going in the direction of one of those old fashioned clocks. Now the trick in a rotation is if you can figure out what one point is doing, you know what all points are doing on the given figure.

So the translation is 90 degrees clockwise. That means the following rule must be operating

(x,y) ===> (y, - x)

H(-3,0) ===> H'(0, - - 3) = H'(0,3)

I(-2,1) =====>I'(1, - - 2) = H'(1,2)

J(0,1) =====>J'(1,0)

G(-3,-3)====>G'(-3, --3) = G'(-3,3)

11

At first you may think that this is a translation of some kind. I thought so at first. D and D' certainly look that way and C and C' also look that way. But B and E are not well behaved. You are looking at a 180 degree rotation

The rule you need here is (x,y) becomes (-x , - y)

I'll leave C and D to you and do one of the B and E

E(3,5)=E'(-3 , - 5)

What is the midpoint of the x-intercepts of f(x)=(x-2)(x-4
NARA [144]
Well, we know that the x-intercepts are (0,2) and (0,4). That means that the midpoint is just (0,3)

You can also use the midpoint formula:

M=( \frac{x_{1}+x_{2}}{2},\frac{y_{1}+y_{2}}{2})

I really need help, can someone please help me on both questions
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

See attached

Step-by-step explanation:

In the questions, find the equation of the dash line then apply the appropriate inequality sign.

In the first one, take points (-3,2) and (0,1) find the gradient and slope of the line.

slope of line, m=Δy/Δx

Δy=1-2=-1

Δx= 0--3=3

m= -1/3

Finding the equation of the line;

y-1/x-0 = -1/3

3y-3 =-x

3y=-x+3

y=-1/3 x+1

The inequality can be ;

y> -1/3 x +1 or y<-1/3 x +1 depending on the shaded region as attached

In 2.

You have two graphs that provide the solution of the inequality.

In the graph represented by line 1, where you have points (-3,-4) and (-5,-5)

The slope will be,

m=-5--4/-5--3

m=-5+4/-5+3

m=-1/-2 = 1/2

The equation will be;

y--4/x--3= 1/2

y+4/x+3= 1/2

2y+8=x+3

2y=x+3-8

2y=x-5

y=1/2x -2.5

In the line with points (-3,-4) and (1,-6)

m=-6--4/1--3

m=-6+4/1+3

m=-2/4 = -1/2

Finding the equation of the line

y--4/x--3 = -1/2

2(y+4) = -1 (x+3)

2y+8 =-x-3

2y=-x-3-8

2y=-x-11

y= -1/2x-5.5

The inequality can be ;

y>1/2x + 2.5

y> -1/2x -5.5

or

y< 1/2 x +2.5

y< -1/2x-5.5

Depending on the area shaded as show in the attached graphs
