Some number plus 8 is -15. subtract 8 from 15, so basically you’re doing the opposite of what the equation is saying and you get -23. -23+8=-15

What is the slope of a line perpendicular to the line whose equation is 15x+18y=270. Fully simplify your answer.
In-s [12.5K]

Answer:

6/5

Step by step explanation:

Here we are provided with a equation which is ,

\longrightarrow 15x + 18y = 270

And we are interested in finding the slope of the line which is perpendicular to the given line. We may rewrite the equation as ,

\longrightarrow 18y = -15x +270\\

\longrightarrow y =\dfrac{-15x+270}{18}\\

\longrightarrow y =\dfrac{-15}{18}x +\dfrac{270}{8}\\

\longrightarrow y =\dfrac{-5}{6}x +\dfrac{135}{4}

Recall the slope intercept form of the line which is <u>y</u><u> </u><u>=</u><u> </u><u>mx</u><u> </u><u>+</u><u> </u><u>c</u><u> </u>.On comparing to which we get ,

\longrightarrow m =\dfrac{-5}{6}

Again , recall that product of slopes of two perpendicular lines is -1. So that ,

\longrightarrow m_{\perp} =-\bigg(\dfrac{1}{m}\bigg)

Hence ,

\longrightarrow\underline{\underline{ m_{\perp}= \dfrac{6}{5}}}

And we are done !

Justin recently drove to visit his parents who live 96 miles away. On his way there his average speed was 20 miles per hour fast
never [62]

Answer:

Justin's average speed to his parents' house: x= 40mph

Justin's average speed from his parents' house: x+20=60 mph

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the average speed be x +20

Then average speed from his parents' x

And the distance is S=96

Then we know :

\displaystyle \frac{S}{x+20} +\frac{S}{x} =4 \\\\\\ \frac{96}{x+20} +\frac{96}{x}=4   \ |\div 4 \\\\\\ 24\bigg(\frac{1}{x+20} +\frac{1}{x} \bigg) =1 \\\\\\ 24\cdot \frac{x+x+20}{(x+20)x}  =1  \  |\cdot (x+20)x  \ \  \\\\\\48x+480=x^2+20x \\\\ x^2-28x-480=0  \\\\  \rm  D=28^2+4\cdot 480=2704 =52^2 \\\\ \boxed{x_1=\frac{28+52}{2} =40} \\\\x_2=\frac{28-52}{2} =-12 \ \  \varnothing

Justin's average speed to his parents' house:  x= 40mph

Justin's average speed from his parents' house:  x+20=60 mph

What is the volume of a right circular cylinder with a radius of 6 m and a height of 9 m?
geniusboy [140]

The volume of the right circular cylinder with a radius of 6 m and a height of 9 m is <u>1018 m²</u>.

The volume of a substance is the total space occupied by a three-dimensional object.

The volume of a right circular cylinder with a radius of r units and a height of h units is given by the formula <u>V = πr²h square units</u>.

We are asked to find the volume of the right circular cylinder with a radius of 6 m and a height of 9 m.

Substituting these values in the formula, we get Volume,

V = π(6)²(9) m² = 324π m² = 1017.876 m² ≈ 1018 m².

Therefore, the volume of the right circular cylinder with a radius of 6 m and a height of 9 m is <u>1018 m²</u>.
