The civil rights act of 1866 declared that everybody born in the united states are citizens with all civil rights that comes with the citizenship regardless of their color,background or race. and this includes African Americans.
The Civil rights of 1875 granted African American equal rights in the use of public facilities and service in the juries as well. during the civil right case of 1883 the supreme court declared that the act was unconstitutional. The decision in the Dred Scott v Sandford case was that No Black ( African american ) could claim U.S citizenship and therefore it denied them their civil rights.
