Answer:Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America, who successfully prosecuted the Civil War to preserve the nation. He played in key role in passage of the Thirteenth Amendment, which officially ended slavery in America.

For some Americans, Abraham Lincoln remains the Great Emancipator, the man who freed the African-American slaves. ... A fair answer requires that we evaluate Lincoln in the context of his times and of his role in public life. “I have always hated slavery as much as any abolitionist,” Lincoln said in 1858. so the answer is no nothing can make him less admirable.

That's an interpretive question that would ask us to get inside the mind of Lincoln from a distance a century and a half away.  We do know that Lincoln long had moral and political objections to slavery.  He had outlined some of those thoughts in a speech given in Peoria, Illinois, in 1854.  But Lincoln's views on what to do about slavery were something that took shape over time.  In the Peoria speech, he suggested that perhaps slaves should be freed in order to be returned to Africa.  But as the conflict over slavery grew and the Civil War became a reality, Lincoln became firmer in seeing this as a struggle not just over preserving the Union but also a battle for human dignity and the principle of equality.   And so in the Gettysburg Address, in 1863, he affirmed the principle stated by the Declaration of Independence, that all men are created equal.  The massive number of casualties at the Battle of Gettysburg certainly gave impetus to Lincoln's words about preserving the Union and government of the people, by the people and for the people.  But those ideas had been central to Lincoln's worldview before Gettysburg as well as in that speech.

1. The United States has a federal system of government; what does that mean?
Rashid [163]

Answer: Federal system of government is a system in which power is divided between central and state governments.

Explanation:

In a federal government system, power is divided between a central national government and local state governments.

This means that according to the United States Constitution, certain powers are designated to a central government, and others are reserved for the state governments. However, certain powers are also shared by different government levels. For example, both the federal and state government are given the power to tax, but only the federal government is allowed to declare war.
