Passive resistance commonly refers to actions of nonviolent protest or resistance to authority. The central feature is the conscious choice by the actors to abstain from a violent response even in the face of violent aggression. The term came into common use during the independence struggle in India between the 1920s and 1948. It has been used widely by groups who lack formal authority or position and has sometimes been called the “weapon of the weak.”

Active resistance can be two things depending upon the application of the term. In criminal justice, active resistance means a law enforcement officer coming into contact with someone who physically counters what the officer is attempting to do. In governmental philosophy, active resistance is defined as anarchism against a state or government for the purposes of disrupting the established order.

Which of the following was a goal of Mexico’s La Reforma movement?
Maslowich

Answer:

The correct answer is C. To prohibit Roman Catholicism from being a state religion and ensure freedom of worship was a goal of Mexico's La Reforma movement.

Explanation:

The Reform was one of the conflicts between liberals and conservatives in Mexico in the 19th century. It took place from 1857 to 1861. The Liberals wanted a federal state and restriction on the traditional influence of the Catholic Church and the military. The Conservatives, in turn, wanted a central government in the form of a monarchy in which the Catholic Church and the military should retain their traditional roles.

Full civil war broke out when the Liberals, who at that time ruled the country after deposing Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, began to introduce a series of laws to limit the influence of the Catholic Church and the military, especially the Church. The Liberals won the war in December 1860, but guerrilla activity continued in the countryside for years to come, and the Conservatives then signed a cooperation agreement with French forces to deploy Maximilian as Emperor of Mexico. during the French intervention in Mexico.
