1. A. Unstable governments

The Sahel countries are the five countries that lie just south of the Sahara desert, occupying mostly arid areas. The five countries in here are Sudan, Chad, Niger, Mali, and Mauritania, all of which are large countries. It is also one of the poorest regions in the world, and it is not that the countries lack resources at all, but it is that they have unstable governments and societies. The governments of these countries are very corrupt, there's always some conflict going on in them, people are constantly displaced, and there are also terrorist organizations that control some parts of them, all leading to terribel conditions.

2. D. Rift Valleys

The majority of the people in East Africa leave along the Rift Valleys in the region. The reason for this is that the rift valleys have slightly better climate conditions as they are on on higher elevation, have fertile soil, and there's multiple large lakes and rivers. All of that enables the people to engage in agriculture, produce enough food, having enough water in semi-arid region, and be well connected, so naturally the people prefer this places for living.

3. False

The great empires, or rather kingdoms of Western Africa were at their peak mostly during the period of the trans=Atlantic slave trade. The reason for this was that these kingdoms were getting lot of wealth and technology from the Europeans for the slaves that they were providing to them. Once the slavery was abolished though, the money also went away for these kingdoms, leading to their rapid weakening and collapse, later used by the Europeans to overtake them.

4. False

Central Africa is a region which is like a crossroad when it comes to the ethnic groups in Africa as it is right in the middle. There are four large ethnic groups that dominate this region. The central, southern, and western part of the region are dominated by the Niger-Congo A, and Niger-Congo B ethnic groups. The eastern, and northern parts of the region are dominated by Nilo-Saharan, and Afro-Asiatic ethnic groups. The majority of the countries in this region have at least two of these groups as large percentage of their population.
