Herbert Hoover was the Republic candidate who managed to win the Election of 1928 against the member of the Democractic Party, Governor Al Smith of NY, and became the 31st President of the United States.

As the Republican candidate, he used arguments that highlighted how the strong state of the US economy in the 1920s had to be attributed to the sucessful policies implemented by his party members during the terms they had been in office.

This was the last election won by a Republican until 1952.
