Geoffrey Chaucer (1343-1400) is best known as a writer, The tales of Canterbury being his most famous work. But he had several other jobs in his life, like a page, valet de chambre, or comptroller of the port of London. From all these we can conclude that he was a man who was rather comfortable with change, this is a very good thing for a writer because it exposes him to different types of people, places and stories.
