This so reminds me of Dumb and Dumber a movie that I didn't particularly like. Understatement. They should be screaming in dismay. The whole building has been destroyed beneith them and Ed is worried about whether the Fire Chief will remember who he is (who Ed is). That's not an understatement. It is just ... Dumb.

The comment about the last one is just as stupid, but not quite. Bob thinks he is talking to a three year old who is just as oblivious as the other two (and when you meet the 2 firemen, they are an art form unto themselves but still D and D).

I think I would pick the middle comment by the bell boy. It is an understatement of sorts. One thing the plot never tells us is how the firemen and the bell boy get to the 11th floor when the first 10 have been destroyed.

I'll pick the middle one, but I wouldn't bet the bell boy's tip on being right. (He  does get one, by the way).
