In history books, it says Marion was called "The Swamp Fox." He led small bands of men in guerilla warfare against the British. They marched onto a battlefield in orderly rows, faced their enemies, and then fired shots at them. Their fighting spirit and Marion's tactics really caught you by surprise. Faced with fast-moving men who had an intimate knowledge of the surrounding swamps, they never knew when The Swamp Fox would strike. Francis Marion was a great military hero and a political revolutionary.
