So basically, the subject is the person/object of the sentence, the verb is the action, in this case, as you can see for the verb, this is a simple past sentence.  A indirect object answers the question of who? for whom? or for what? And the direct object is the noun (person, thing) that receives the action.

In this example you can see that the subject Shelley is who performed the action (verb) for whom? Well, here is for Donna, and what is receiving the action here? The new skirt.
