Prudence woke up on Saturday morning with great excitement. The day had finally come. She would finally get to compete in the Ac

ademic Decathlon National Competition. Hundreds of recruiters were going to be there looking for the brightest young minds in America, and she couldn't wait to show off her skills. She hoped to attract the attention of Harvard or Yale. Her dream was to attend an Ivy League School, but she knew her parents wouldn't be able to afford the costs. What exaggeration about jim smiley does the narrator of "the notorious jumping frog of calaveras county" make?
pav-90 [236]
One of the exaggerations of Jim Smiley was by Simon Wheeler wherein Wheeler would say that Jim Smiley is the type of person that "bets on anything that turned up". In the story, Smiley betted on cockfights, horse races, cat fights and other animal fights. This hyperbole emphasizes that Smiley loves to bet and gamble in general.

Rana said to her, "I shall follow you" Indirect speech?
IgorC [24]

Answer:

Rana told her that she will follow her.

Explanation:

Changing a speech from the direct to the indirect form requires certain changes to the sentence. This includes removing the quotation marks/ speech marks, then replacing the pronouns as required. Moreover, the tense of the speech will depend on the frame of the sentence.

In the given direct speech, the "I" refers to Rana, and the "you" in her speech means the girl she's talking to. Thus, the indirect speech for the given sentence will be-

Rana told her that she will follow her.

We change the "shall" of the speech because shall is used for first-person whereas in the indirect speech, the I becomes "she" as it refers to Rana.

Thus, the correct sentence is

Rana told her she will follow her.
