A review has some specific functions, such as, to inidicate and express to the reader what information and ideas have been determined about a topic. Other purpose of a review is, as it was mentioned before, to establish the strengths and weaknesses of the writing, and finally to pass the message to the reader that you know closely the ideas and theories of the writing.
