Explanation:

In the early part of the United States history, voting was limited to white men who owned a certain amount of land. Land qualifications were common in the US, as to limit voting to wealthy individuals. This started to change with the presidency of Andrew Jackson who helped to lift these voting qualifications.

Even though Jackson helped to get rid of voting qualifications, many individuals in American society could not vote. This included African American men and women as a whole. African American men would not get the right to vote until 1870 and women would not get the right to vote until 1920.
