Answer: C. Battle of Marathon

Explanation:

The Battle of Marathon was fought in 490BC between Athens and Persia in what became known as the first invasion of the Greek mainland by the Persians and was led by Darius The Great.

Before the battle, the Athenians sent a message to request help from Sparta but the Spartans declined involvement due to their observance of a religious festival.

Regardless, Athens and her Allies inflicted a crushing defeat on the Persians that kept them out of Greece for over a decade before Xerxes the Great invaded their shores once more.

This therefore must be the battle that the text speaks of.

How do Buddhists believe one can achieve enlightenment
dedylja [7]

Answer :

Born into royalty, Siddhartha Gautama, now known as the Buddha, lived his early years sheltered from the poverty and suffering that plagued his country of India in that time. Upon seeing this suffering first hand, Siddhartha left his home in search of understanding. After six years in meditation he attained understanding through self-liberation and realization of the true nature of the universe, a state he called enlightenment. Siddhartha immediately began teaching of enlightenment, of the wrong and right views of the world and of the path to reaching a truly free mind. These teachings form the base of Buddhism, and it is the practices and the paths of which the Buddha taught that all Buddhist monks follow in their search for enlightenment.

Why has it been so difficult to achieve peace and stability in the Balkans?
LuckyWell [14K]
This region was also politically unstable as there were different ethnicities and there was also rising nationalism in the region. Nationalism brought about tensions. There was also rising Serbian nationalist groups. Combined with the brinkmanship of the European Powers the area became a fuse to the powder keg that Europe had become. The Balkans has strong Cultural, Religious, and language ties to the surrounding Empires but they were in small pockets making nation building difficult.
