The Great Awakening is defined as a religious revival that promised the grace of God to all who could experience a desire for it. It expanded all <u>across America during the 1940</u>'s and it unified the colonies.

This event is also referred as the <u>Evangelical Revival</u> and marked the emergence of the Anglo-American evangelicalism within the protestant churches.  

According to evangelical preachers, <u>everyone should be included in conversion</u>, regardless of gender, race and statuts. As a result, the revival movement <u>increased the number</u> of african slaves and free blacks who were exposed and later <u>converted to Christianity</u>.
