1. In what ways can Kipling's poem be interpreted as being ethnocentric and racist?
lyudmila [28]

First of all, it should be mentioned that Rudyard Kipling was a renowned author of short stories and books, among them the famous The Jungle Book, which tells the story of Mogli. In this sense, it is also worth mentioning the advent of Neocolonialism, which used the notion of race domination to justify the capitalist expansion it wished to undertake. Kipling was one of the minds harnessed by Neocolonialism, and his works, which preached the inferiority of non-white people and, consequently, white supremacy, can be considered racist because they aimed at the reduction of individuals based on racial criteria, at the same time time that can be considered ethnocentric because they place the Caucasian European man as the center of the world, superior to the others, and who, therefore, would have legitimacy to govern everything and everyone.

Which is the BEST example of conflict between the Native Americans and the European colonists?
antiseptic1488 [7]

A is the best example.

King Phillip's War occurred in MA, CT, and RI during 1675-1678 after the death of Massasoit and the ascension of his son Metacomet to the leadership of the Wampanog tribe. The power dynamic changed the relationship between the colonizers and the native population, who were beginning to feel like they were being taken advantage of. The war largely ended with the colonists winning and Metacomet dying.

Do you think Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative was a good or bad idea?
spayn [35]

Answer:

Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative was a good idea; everything Reagan did was good for our country.

Explanation:During the 1980s, President Ronald Reagan initiated the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), an anti-ballistic missile program (ABMP) that was designed to shoot down nuclear missiles in space. Otherwise known as “Star Wars,” SDI sought to create a space-based shield that would render nuclear missiles obsolete.

But something people do not talk about is how he was interested in  the ABMP dating back to 1967 when as governor of California,  he paid a visit to physicis Edward Tellert the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Reagan reportedly was very taken by Teller’s briefing on directed-energy weapons (DEWs), such as lasers and microwaves. Teller argued that DEWs could potentially defend against a nuclear attack, characterizing them as the “third generation of nuclear weapons” after fission and thermonuclear weapons, respectively (Rhodes 179). According to George Shultz, the Secretary of State during Reagan’s presidency, the meeting with Teller was “the first gleam in Ronald Reagan’s eye of what later became the Strategic Defense Initiative” (Shultz 261). This account was also confirmed by Teller, who wrote, “Fifteen years later, I discovered that [Reagan] had been very interested in those ideas” (Teller, 509).
