There are many reasons why a country would go to war.

  1. A country would want to go to war to gain more territory/land.
  2. A country could go to a Civil War to separate itself from another part of that same country.
  3. A country could go to war to get there revenge on another country for there actions.
  4. A country to go to war with another country to gain more wealth.
  5. A country could go to war because they had some conflict with another country that needed to be taken care of.

There are a multitude of reason of why countries go to war. One specific reason who wars to break out are assignations. These assignation can differ from citizens to leaders of the land. The war with the most casualties (WWII) started with the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand the heir presumptive to the throne of Austria-Hungary.

This is essentially language change at work. Do you know how Shakespeare sometimes sounds "weird" to us? that's because English has changed since then.

Language change is not abrupt, but gradual, and while the change takes place sometimes two forms are used: so while it is likely that in years to come only dreamed will be correct, and in the past only "dreamt", currently the change is not complete and both are correct.
