At the age of 20 he was already the manager and apprentice of Thomas Scott, the owner of the company. Later he created the Carnegie Steel Company to be more focus on the iron business, he also had bought mines near the Pittsburgh area. That was the beginning of the construction of a big iron empire. Finally the Carnegie Steel Company was sold to JP Morgan in 1901 for $480 million dollars and there is were the philantropist career of Carnegie started.
