The Declaration of Independence is an important part of American democracy because first it contains the ideals or goals of our nation. Second it contains the complaints of the colonists against the British king. Third, it contains the arguments the colonists used to explain why they wanted to be free of British rule.

The Bank of the United States proposed by Hamilton is correctly
kobusy [5.1K]

The features of the Bank of United States according to Hamilton were all the above except the bank would be a private institution with the government a major stockholder.

The Bank of the United States:

 • Would issue paper money.
 • Would advise the government on investment.
 • Would keep and circulate federal funds.

Hamilton however, wanted the federal government to only have a minority stake in the Bank and not a majority as he felt this would ensure a better oversight of the bank.

In conclusion, option B is correct.

Which of these contributed to the Union victory in the Civil War? (1 point)
Margaret [11]
B is false because neither the North or South forged any alliances. C is wrong as well because slaves feared rising against their masters and D is wrong as well because Virginia did secede from the Union. So A is the only correct choice

What is an example of the kind of discrimination successfully ended by
olchik [2.2K]

Answer:

The National Organization for Women (NOW ) is an organization for the defense of women's rights. Its approach prioritizes achieving economic equality and rights equality. The organization has also been active in the fight for the right to abortion, reproductive freedom, against racism and intolerance in defense of the LGBTQIA community.

One example of the kind of discrimination successfully ended by efforts of NOW is unequal access to public places. The Oak Room was a bar and a restaurant in the Plaza Hotel in New York City that only received men during weekdays (monday through Friday) until 1969, when NOW members organized a protest. Similarly, women were not allowed to enter McSorley Irish Tavern in New York city until August 10, 1970, after NOW's lawyers filed a case of discrimination against the bar in the District Court and won. The bar was forced to admit women and the bathroom became unisex.

After the revolutionary war, how many slaves were free in maryland
Alchen [17]

The question is unclear since after the Revolutionary War is not enough information. A specific date is required but I'll use two dates (1790 and 1860), Maryland had the following statistics:

- 208,649 Whites.

- 8,043 non-white free inhabitants (may include Native Americans).

- 103,036 African Slaves (Including those born in the US).

For a total of 319. 728 inhabitants, only 8,043 were free, that is roughly less than 3% percent of the population which means that the correct answer is:

d: no slaves

Since part of the free non-whites were probably Native Americans and if we use the date 1790 as referential.

If we use the date 1860, Maryland had the following statistics:

- 515,918 Whites.

- 83,942 non-white free inhabitants (may include Native Americans).

- 87,189 African Slaves (Including those born in the US).For a total of 515,918 inhabitants, only 83,942 were free, that is roughly over 16% of the population which means that the correct answer is, for this referential:

b: about 1/3 of the population

It is obvious that even after the Revolutionary War Slavery was thriving in Maryland.
