An archetype is a pattern which exists in an individual’s collective unconscious across societies and culture.

Further explanation:

Archetype was a concept introduced by the renowned psychiatrist Carl Jung; he believes that archetype is a model of people, personalities or behavior. Archetype was an inborn tendency which plays an important role in influencing the human behavior.

ARCHETYPE

Jung believes that an individual’s psyche is composed of three components, which are as follow:

 1. Ego
 2. Personal unconscious
 3. Collective unconscious

Ego, in archetypes, represents the conscious mind of an individual while personal unconscious represents memories including those which have been suppressed. Collective unconscious is a component which is unique. Jung believes that it is a part of a psyche which serves as form of psychological inheritance.

According to Jungian psychology, the archetype represents universal images and patterns which are part of an individual’s collective unconscious. An archetype is something which is common everywhere in the world.

An archetype is a pattern that exists in our collective unconscious across cultures and societies.
An archetype refers to something that is common to every nation in the world - something like, for example, the notion of a hero. Heroic qualities are pretty much the same anywhere in the world - a hero is strong, brave, chivalrous, and intrinsically good.

Answer:

The answer is selective retention.

Explanation:

Selective retention is a memory process in which people remember things that are closer to their experiences or interests. For example: a person might only remember their happiest memories in high school as they grow up.

Studies have found that selective retention can be influenced by sleep (lack of sleep may impair memory, resulting in increased selective retention) and learning styles (a visual learner will remember more accurately information presented in pictures or graphs).
