Answer: A storm caused a power failure, so Peter started the new generator.

A computer virus has totally wiped out my had drive because I did not renew my subscription to my virus protection program

Explanation: for the first statement, the main clause is 'A power failure' as it is drawing attention to the action carried out by Peter. Joining the 2 statements was only possible if 'so' is added, as it shows exactly the reason why Peter started the new generator.

For the second statement, computer virus is the main clause. 'because' is a word showing what had caused an event to occur, so it is the best joiner for the 2nd question

Answer:

Peter started the new generator when a storm caused a power failure.

Because I did not renew my subscription to my virus protection program,a computer virus has totally wiped out my hard drive.

Explanation: In the first sentence, the adverbial clause of time comes after the main clause. That is, telling us what Peter did after the storm has caused power failure.

In the second sentence, the adverbial clause of reason tells us why the computer virus wiped out the hard drive.

Suppose you overslept and you're going to be late for work or school. You run out the door to start your car
masya89 [10]

Answer:

Highlight the impact of Kettering's invention on society

Explanation:

You can use process of elimination on this. It's not the first one, because the author praises his invention and says it helped by "contributing to the growth of the U.S", we can eliminate the second one because he isn't writing about how sophisticated cars were, only about the invention. That leaves the last one, which makes the most sense and has been checked.

Is the ending of Romeo and Juliet a tragedy or a triumph? Defend your answer with examples and reasons from the play
Annette [7]

Answer: Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy.

Explanation:

The prologue of this play establishes it as a tragedy by using key words like "fatal", "piteous", and "strife". Shakespeare lets the audience know from the very first lines that this is a tragic tale.

"From forth the fatal loins of these two foes

A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life,

Whose misadventured piteous overthrows

Doth with their death bury their parents' strife."

Of course, he further elaborates on the tragedy through the scenes just foreshadowed. Romeo and Juliet, our protagonists both die. In a triumphant ending, we would see the protagonist achieve their desires.

There are subtle examples of the tragedy as well. In Act 2 Scene 2, Juliet laments on their unfortunate circumstance. "O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?" She isn't asking where he is, but why he has to be a Montague. Though it is a romantic scene in which they reveal their desires, it is inherently tragic. They can never truly be together.
