General Pershing was an army General that commanded the AEF ( American Expeditionary force ) that was part of the world war I. he was a very experienced soldier and he fought together with the Allied forces to defeat Germany.

After the Battery A troops which was part of the AEF destroyed a key bridge during the war General Pershing wrote a letter that cited the efforts of the  troop in the War and this helped the New Mexican troops ( Battery A ) become popular and were recognized in America for their efforts. and ultimately became known as war heroes
