The periods between the 1783 and 1850´s were a great time for land acquisiton by the newly formed United States. In fact, during this period, the U.S government bought and annexed several territories which ended up conforming part of what is the U.S map today. Among the countries from which the U.S bought and acquired land during this time are: France, in 1803, from whom was acquired the Louisiana Territory. Spain, in 1819, from whom Florida was bought. In 1845, the annexation of Texas and in 1846, through a treaty with Great Britain, the U.S acquired the Oregon Territory. In 1848, several western territories were annexed to the U.S after their cession from Mexico and finally, in 1853, the Gadsden Purchase in northern Mexico.
All of them - they didn't like the idea of revolution spreading to their countries and them potentially losing their heads.

B+C = 52
2B + 4C = 138
B+C-C = 52-C
B= 52-C
Take this formula and substitute in 2B + 4C = 138.
2 (52-C) + 4 C =138
Distribute
104 -2C + 4C = 138
Combine like tems
104 + 2C = 138
104 - 104 + 2C =138 - 104
2C = 34
2C/2 = 34/ 2
C = 17
B + C =52
B + 17 =52
B +17 -17 = 52- 17
B = 35
