The Moche civilization and the Nazca civilization are both ancient civilizations of South America. Both of the were located in the coastal area of what is now Peru. These two early civilizations are considered to be some of the predecessors of the later civilizations in the region, such as the Inca civilization.

The Moche and Nazca civilization existed in part in a same period of time. Not just that, but they were bordering each other, with the Moche being on the north, and the Nazca being on the south. It is almost certain that these two civilizations were aware of one another and had developed relations because there has been lot of artifacts of Nazca origin found at Moche sites, and lot of artifacts of Moche origin found on Nazca sits.

Some facts about these civilizations are:

  • Moche existed from 100 AD to 750 AD
  • Nazca existed from 200 BC to 600 AD
  • Both were coastal civilizations
  • They had well developed architecture
  • The Nazca were making geoglyphs
