Well, your thesis should reflect your personal opinion, and your essay should defend why you think what you think. I personally have read both and thought Night gives very vivid descriptions to the point of making me ill, I think Maus gives a better description to me simply because it takes an innocent creature and you actually have to SEE what it goes through, if that makes sense.
