Answer:

"Not Waving but Drowning" is a poem written by author Stevie Smith and it was published in a book of collected poems called Collected Poems of Stevie Smith IN 1972. The answers to the questions, would be:

1. In the stanza, the dead man: A: Moans. That is what the whole stanza mentions. The speaker says that the dead man is drowning and then speaks about himself being the one not waving, but rather drowning.

2. The "poor chap" always loved: C: Larking. The speaker says in the second stanza that the chap was a lively and mischiveous one and now he was dead.

3. "They" said the: D: Cold. This also happens on the second stanza, at the very last two lines, when the speaker mentions what others have said was the cause for the dead man´s heart to give way.

A number of people _____concerned about the lack of progress
horrorfan [7]

Answer:

A number of people are concerned about the lack of progress.

Explanation:

Verbs in the English language agree with the subject of the sentence in number. “A number of people” is the subject, since they are the ones performing the action (expressing concern). Since “people” is plural, the correct form of the verb “to be” is “are”.
