Answer: King uses this allusion in order to suggest the moral significance of his cause.

Explanation: King wrote "Letter from Birmingham Jail" after having faced harsh conditions in jail. The purpose of his letter was to highlight once again the importance of resorting to nonviolent resistance in order to fight against racism. <u>King completely opposed to all types of violence</u> as he implied it in the excerpt provided by means of a powerful allusion.
