Medieval art is that which was produced in the Middle Ages, when the Catholic Church had a strong power and influence throughout Europe. The art of that period reflected this a lot and had very strong religious elements, being a sacred art. Baroque art, in turn, also has many religious elements, but more dramatic and detailed than in medieval art. Here the artists preferred the use of curves over geometric shapes, they had the divine as the center of the universe and imposed a strong play of shadow and light in their works.
