Answer:

The total distance the boy can travel is 560 miles.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

The boy travels with 28 miles per gallon,

That is the distance travel by him for a gallon = 28 miles,

Also, the original quantity of gas he has = 10 gallon,

And, he buys more gas for $1.75 per gallon.

Let x be the quantity of gas bought by him,

⇒ Cost of gas he bought = 1.75x dollars,

According to the question,

1.7x = 17.50 ⇒ x = 10

Thus, he bought 10 gallon gas,

Total quantity of gas he has = 10 + 10 = 20 gallon,

Hence, the distance travelled by him with 20 gallon = 20 × 28 = 560 miles.

10 x 28 = 280.
17.50 / 1.75 = 10 gallons.
10 x 28 = 280.
280 + 280 = 560
560 miles.

Hope this helps.

If the club decides to send 5 members to the convention, how many different groups of 5 are possible? there are 10 members
hodyreva [135]
For the 1st member, you have 10 possible choices.

For the 2nd, you have 9 remaining choices.

For the 3rd: 8.

So all possible combinations would be:
10*9*8*7*6 = 10! - 5! = 30,240 combinations.

6 times the difference of a number and 4 equals 7
Nonamiya [84]
6( x - 4) = 7
6 x - 24 = 7
6 x = 7 + 24
6 x = 31
x = 31/6

6 ( 31/6 - 4) = 7
186/6 - 24 = 7
186/6 = 144/6 = 7

42/6 = 7
7 = 7
