In this scene, we see that Brutus is trying to protect his wife Portia from the truth of the conspiracy. Portia has noticed that something is wrong, and she wants to know what it is so that she can help Brutus. She feels offended at the fact that he is not confiding in her. Brutus is grateful for having such a caring wife, but he does not want to involve her in the conspiracy in order to protect her.
