Answer:

As the diagram is not given, hence let's generally describe the movement of molecules along the cell membrane.

Molecules can either pass through the cell without using energy through the process of passive transport. An example includes molecules of oxygen.

Molecules which are large and un-polar cannot move through the cell membrane easily. These molecules will require energy to move through the cell membrane. These molecules might move in with the help of the carrier or facilitated proteins. Examples include molecules of glucose.

2. Explain why ground water can only be found within a few miles of the Earth’s surface.
dsp73
Ground water can only be found within a few miles of the Earth’s surface because water can permeate through the soil, but at one point, the ground becomes too dense for water to seep through.

John took home some leftover ham and potato salad from a picnic, reheated the ham on the stove, ate it, and got sick two hours l
zysi [14]

Answer:

Staphylococcus aureus

Explanation:

S. aureus is a toxin producer and even though the bacteria can be destroyed with heat, its toxin is heat stable, this means that it can survive after heating producing food poisoning. This kind of poisoning occurs in foods that require hand preparation, like the potato salad or ham in the example, especially because in the example those food were at room temperature, in the picnic, allowing the S. aureus to produce the toxin.

I hope you find this information useful and interesting! Good luck!

If two species have many amino acid differences, are they closely or distantly related? Explain how scientists know this.
devlian [24]
Different amino acids means difference DNA sequences, which means they are distantly related.

Further understanding: if you look at identical twins, they are closely related to each other because they have almost the same DNA, which will code for the same amino acids, which will lead to the same phenotype or appearance.

To summarize, the greater the amino acid differences the less related they are and vice versa

Hope that helps
