You can tell Thoreau finds a great value as he cultivates his beans because he mentions what great joy it brings him. In one sentence he says, "<span>I came to love my rows, my beans, though so many more than I wanted." This shows he is very found of his beans and he enjoys doing it, because he wants to grow many more rows of beans.

Hope that helps. =) -UnicornFudge</span>

Rudolf Virchow was trying to prove through his work that spontaneous generation didn't happen.
He claimed this was not the case, and that organisms cannot arise from nonliving matter. He extended previous claims that there had to be a living thing to give birth to another one to state that the only source for a living cell was another living cell.
