You can tell Thoreau finds a great value as he cultivates his beans because he mentions what great joy it brings him. In one sentence he says, "I came to love my rows, my beans, though so many more than I wanted." This shows he is very found of his beans and he enjoys doing it, because he wants to grow many more rows of beans.
