13) What is an isobar?
nika2105 [10]

Answer:

Isobars are lines that connect points of equal atmospheric pressure on weather maps.

Explanation:

An isobar is a line on a weather map of constant barometric pressure drawn on a given surface. This isobaric pattern is useful in weather forecasting because of the close association between pressure and weather, the distribution of isobars is related to the magnitude and direction of the wind field, and can be used to predict future weather patterns.

To draw isobars there are some rules we need to follow, lines may never cross or touch, the atmospheric pressure is given in millibars (mb) (One millibar = 0.02953 inches of mercury), differences in pressure due to altitude are ignored correcting pressure lines for sea levels.

I hope you find this information useful and interesting! Good luck!
