Why did the British begin to tighten control over the colonies after 1763?

Answer: They began to tighten control because they saw the colonies as a source of much-needed money to pay off the debt from the French and Indian War. The British felt that the colonies should pay their part of the cost of the war. They used their power and control to make the colonies pay the taxes.
