An ethnic group shares a similar culture. That means that members have the same beliefs, values and traditions. Members of an ethnic group also have the same language, religion and ancestry. They also share some other characteristics such as behaviour that are passed down from one generation to the next. Ethnic groups may live together in the same area or come from the same country.
