Egyptian gods were often represented by animals. Animals played a big part in the religion & mythology of ancient Egypt. Some animals were sacred to the Gods but the animals themselves were not worshiped. Egyptian towns usually had their own sacred animals. They thought honoring these animals would please the Gods that the animal was associated with.
