What tone does the author create with the word choice? The Yellow Wallpaper apex
MakcuM [25]

Answer:

The best answer to the question: What tone does the author create with the word choice? The Yellow Wallpaper, would be: a tone of confusion and also of mystery.

Explanation:

"The Yellow Wallpaper" is a short story that was published in 1892 and it was written by American writer Charlotte Perkins Gilman. The story narrates the events in the lives of a young married couple who decide to go on a summer vacation to a mansion in order for the wife to get some much needed rest and isolation from the hard world. However, the situation turns into their disfavor when the young woman locks herself in the old nursery room where the couple had originally chosen to stay, and begins to see the shape of another woman behind the badly scratched yellow wallpaper in the room. All along the story, from beginning to end, Gilman sets a tone of confusion, especially when the events with the woman behind the wallpaper start to happen, and also of mystery. Sometimes it is possible to believe that there is another entity in the story aside from the wife, John, the husband, and his sister, and at others it seems like the two women (the wife and the shadow) are almost the same. The words used, the way they are used, generate that sense of mystery, of suspense, but most of all of confusion to finally understand what is going on.

If you happen to find a treasure in a cave what you do it and why
WITCHER [35]

First thing i would do is check what treasures are inside. If there is gold i would go to a re seller of gold products and cash in the gold. I would save myself $100 US dollars. The rest of the money i would spend on food for the homeless people on the street and stray animals. I would also spend some money on a nice gift for my parents.

Opened sentences with discourse markers?
Anvisha [2.4K]

Discourse markers are words or phrases like anyway, right, okay, as I say, to begin with. We use them to connect, organise and manage what we say or write or to express attitude:

[friends are talking]

A:

So, I’ve decided I’m going to go to the bank and ask for a car loan.

B:

That sounds like a good idea.

C:

Well, you need a car.

B:

Right.

A:

Anyway, I was wondering if either of you would teach me how to drive.

The discourse markers in this extract have a number of uses:so marks the beginning of a new part of the conversation.

well marks a change in the focus (from getting a car loan to needing a car).

right marks a response (B is agreeing with C).

anyway marks a shift in topic (from buying a new car to having driving lessons).

We use different discourse markers in speaking and writing. In speaking, the following discourse markers are very common:

anyway

like

right

you know

fine

now

so

I mean

good

oh

well

as I say

great

okay

mind you

for a start

In writing, the following discourse markers are common:

firstly

in addition

moreover

on the other hand

secondly

in conclusion

on the one hand

to begin with

thirdly

in sum

Discourse markers do not always have meanings that you will find in your dictionary. However, they do have certain functions, and some discourse markers, such as well, can have a number of functions.
