A professor grades students on four tests, a term paper, and a final examination. Each test counts as 15% of the course grade. T

he term paper counts as 20% of the course grade. The final examination counts as 20% of the course grade. Alan has test scores of 79, 95, 89, and 81. Alan received an 81 on his term paper. His final examination score was 85. Use the weighted mean formula to find Alan's average for the course.

Answer:

The Alan's average for course is 72.65.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

Each test counts as 15% of the course grade. 20% of course grade is counted term test paper. Alan has test scores of 79, 95, 89, and 81. Alan got 81 score on his term paper . Alan's final examination score = 85.

\sum w=1

Let n number x₁,x₂,.......,x_n with respect to assigned weightw_1,w_2,.......,w_n is

{\textrm{weighted mean}}= \frac{\sum w.x}{\sum w}

Where \sum w.x is the sum of the products the number with the relevant weight.

weighted mean  =\frac{79\times 15\%+95 \times 15\%+89\times 15\%+81\times 20\%+85\times20\%}{1}

                           =72.65

The Alan's average for course is 72.65.

a fair coin is flipped 10 times. what is the probability of getting the same number of heads and tails
Dafna11 [192]

If you flip a coin one time, the probability to get a Head is

p = 1/2

The probability of not getting a head in a single toss is :

q = 1 - 1/2 = 1/2

Thus there is only one unique situation to get the same number of heads and tails : in 10 toss you need to get exactly five heads, it will means that the rest is the tails.

Now using Binomial theorem of probability, the probability of getting exactly x = 5 heads in a total of n = 10 tosses is :

P(X = 5) = \frac{10!}{5!*5!} *(\frac{1}{2})^{5} *(\frac{1}{2})^{5}≈ 0.246

So the probability of that is 24,6 %

Good Luck

What is an equation of a line that passes through the point of (-8 2) and (-4,-3)
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer:

<h2>y = -5/4x -8</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

(-8,2)=(x_1 ,y_1)\\(-4 ,-3) = (x_2 ,y_2)\\\\\frac{y-y_1}{x-x_1} = \frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}\\ \\\frac{y-2}{x-(-8)}= \frac{-3-2}{-4-(-8)}\\  \\\frac{y-2}{x+8}= \frac{-5}{-4+8} \\ \\\\\frac{y-2}{x+8} = \frac{-5}{4}\\ \\Cross\:Multiply \\4(y-2) = -5(x+8)\\\\4y-8 =- 5x-40\\\\4y = -5x-40+8\\\\4y =- 5x-32\\\\\frac{4y}{4} = \frac{-5x}{4} + \frac{-32}{4} \\\\y = -\frac{5}{4}x-8
