Answer: D) had to swerve to avoid hitting the pothole in the road.

Explanation: the predicate is the part of a sentence or clause that contains a verb and states something about the subject, it is formed by the verb and the objects, complements or modifiers. In the given sentence, the complete predicate is "had to swerve to avoid hitting the pothole in the road", the verb is "had to swerve" and the rest are the complements and objects, for example: "the pothole" is the direct object and "in the road" is a prepositional phrase.

5. How does the author's advice for parents change as
olga_2 [115]

Answer: I haven't read the book so please take this with a grain of salt but I believe the answer would be C, "As teenagers get older, parents should help them avoid more serious negative consequences." Exerting control might be too much, letting the teenager be too rebellious would lead to disobeyment, and letting them do it again isn't a good idea. I apologize if you get the answer wrong, good luck!

GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

True, you do have to deal with life even if it's not fair. You just gotta roll with it so that you'll end up coming out better than you were before. Life throws all kinds of obstacles at you, and you just have to take it on.
