Following the Spanish American War, American had a sudden hunger for power and territory and so began to appease their Imperialistic needs by conquering and taking advantage of small islands and more territory. During this time, the U.S. acquired new states and took over islands in the Pacific and the Bahamas and exploited their natural resources, like cotton, oil, and coal, for it's own gain. <span />
