The Eastern European countries needed to change their political and economic system when they broke away from the Soviet Union.

Explanation:

Eastern Europe, or rather the countries of this region, were all satellites of the Soviet Union. While some countries did this willingly, some were forced to do so. All of these countries were under control of the Soviet Union and its interests, and the politicians that ruled them were very close to the Soviets, or installed by the Soviets.

This all came to an end when the Soviet Union started to lose its power and eventually broke up, while in meantime the people of these countries were constantly protesting and pushing from greater autonomy and eventual freedom. Once free from the grip of the Soviets, the Eastern European countries immediately started to change, and that was done through the political systems, from communism moving to democracy, and the economic system, from command economy moving to market economy.

Some of the countries that were in this situation were:

  • Hungary
  • Poland
  • Czechoslovakia (now Czechia and Slovakia)
  • Romania

Describe the thermocline and what causes it.
Georgia [21]
A thermocline is a transition layer between warmer water at the surface of a body of water and the cooler deep water that lies below. It is caused by the effect of the sun on the water, in that it keeps the upper parts of the body of water warm whilst being unable to reach the lower, deeper parts.
