In looking at the layer of rock, bones from the Pliohippus are found in layers above bones of the Mesohippus what does this tell

you about the age of these bones? The Mesohippus is older than the Pliohippus The Pliohippus is older than the Mesohippus The fossil record is incomplete so nothing can be determined about their age. They are both of the same age.

The correct answer is - The Mesohippus is older than the Pliohippus.

Trying to date the fossils according to the layers in which they are found can be very useful and relatively accurate. It has to be taken in consideration though that the layers of rocks should not be disturbed by geological processes, as that can give totally different results.

In this case, the fossils of the Pliohippus are found in layers closer to the surface, while the fossils of the Mesohippus are found in layers that further down, bellow the layers in which the Pliohippus fossils are found. This means that the Pliohippus is an animal that lived after the Mesohippus lived, thus making it a younger species, while the Mesohippus would be the older species.

What occurs when the heads of myosin contact actin?
Elza [17]

When myosin head bind to the actin, it will form a cross bridge and causes a power stroke to occur. It will hydrolyse the ATP to ADP + Pi in the ATPase of the myosin head and the myosin head will detached from actin and tilt back to its original position. Hence the sarcomere will shorten

1. The burning of fossil fuels contributes to all of the following ecological problems except for:
kirill115 [55]

The burning of fossil fuels does not contribute to ozone layer depletion.

The burning of fossil fuels leads to the release of gases such as oxides of nitrogen, sulfur, and carbon as well as particulate matter such as smoke, ashes, etc.

The oxides released from fossil fuel burning can cause global warming (carbon dioxide), acid rain (SO2), and air pollution (particulate matter).

Ozone layer depletion is caused by pollutants such as halocarbons, solvents, etc.

Is there a picture you forgot to post with the question?

In the problem you mention, which I assume comes from the study of finches in the Galapagos, some birds evolved to have different beaks, depending on the food available. Depending on what kind of seeds there are, different beak sizes were selected for, with those with the right fit eventually winning out over the rest on the individual islands.
