Is this a metaphor (look at this different see the bigger picture?)

English

I feel like it's not, because google says that metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable. It may be if something else was added to the sentence. But since there isn't anything else to it, it isn't because it does not match the description of a metaphor.

The narrator states,<em> ''The neighbour sits in his window and plays the flute, From my bed I can hear him,"</em> (Lines 1-2). Read this excerpt about Elizabeth Van Lew from The Dark
umka21 [38]

Answer:

The correct answers are A and B.

A)  It states how Van Lew acted as an important leader and manager at a time when women were generally discouraged from taking on those roles.

B)  It shows that Van Lew was dedicated to a cause outside of her family and worked hard for her beliefs.

Explanation:

In the excerpt, the author develops two main ideas.

First, the author explains that Elizabeth Van Lew was a spymaster who was running a great network agents, couries and safe houses during the world war, which was not a common role for women in 19th century. She indeed played as an important leader and role model for women.

Secondly, the author suggests that Elizabeth Van Lew dedicated her life to being the leader because she believed in this cause. She even used her house for the duty and went past the family limitations which restricted the most women in that age.

What is the predicate?:
anzhelika [568]

Answer:

4. Should be studying

Explanation:

The predicate is the part of a sentence (or clause) that contains a verb, stating what the subject is doing, or describes the subject.

When we have a main verb and an auxiliary verb accompanying it, both of them together form the predicate. In the given sentence, we have a construction with a main verb<em> to study </em>and an auxiliary verb <em>should:</em> <em>should be studying</em>. If you chose just<em> studying</em> or <em>should be</em> as the predicate, that would be incorrect as those two options are not the complete predicate.
