The correct answer is C. They were unable to pay their debts

Explanation:

The dust bowl is a term used to refer to a specific period of time during 1930 in which the agriculture of the U.S. and Canada was widely affected by extreme drought and multiple dust storms. This phenomenon was also influenced by a lack of knowledge in farmers on how to grow different plants in the Great Plains which caused massive erosion in the soil and let to the drought and dust storms. Considering farmers could not continue with agriculture due to the conditions of the soil they were forced to abandon their farms as they could not produce food or have money to pay mortgages or similar debts as they depended economically on agriculture, also, lands became almost worthless as they could not be used for agriculture. Thus, a consequence for farmers during the dust bowl was that they were unable to pay their debts.
